What Hot Pilates actually is
Hot Pilates runs a fast, high intensity mat sequence in a room heated to roughly 95 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. It borrows the heat from hot Yoga and the core sequencing from Pilates, and it is closer to a conditioning class than a classical Pilates session. Bring more water than you think you need.
- Heated room, typically 95 to 105 degrees
- Higher intensity and faster pace than classical Pilates
- Mat based, no machine
- Often shares a schedule with hot Yoga
- Towel and extra water essential
What Hot Pilates costs
$22-$38 per class is the national range. Below is what studios on this site actually charge, and when we last checked.
Not enough studios have published a hot pilates price for us to show a city range yet. A single studio's price is not a range, so we are not going to print one. $22-$38 per class is the national guide.
Is Hot Pilates right for you?
The honest version. Every class style suits some people and not others, and a directory that pretends otherwise wastes your first class fee.
It suits you if
- People who already like heated rooms
- Anyone who wants mat Pilates at a higher intensity
- Those who sweat easily and enjoy it
Look elsewhere if
- Anyone pregnant, unless a clinician has cleared it
- People with blood pressure or heart conditions, without medical advice
- Beginners, who have enough to learn without the heat
Before you book
What happens in your first class
- 1Arrive hydrated and bring more water than you think you need
- 2Bring a towel. Most studios require one and many rent them
- 3Rooms usually run 95 to 105 degrees, so pace the first class deliberately
What to ask before you pay
- Ask the exact room temperature. Hot Pilates varies far more than Bikram
- Check whether the room is heated with humidity or dry heat
- Ask how the room is ventilated between classes

Hot Pilates questions
What is the difference between hot Pilates and hot Yoga?
Both use a heated room. Hot Pilates runs a faster, higher intensity core and conditioning sequence with no held postures, while hot Yoga moves through yoga postures and holds. Hot Pilates generally feels more like circuit training and hot Yoga more like a flow.
How hot does the room actually get?
Lower than a Bikram room, generally somewhere between 85 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and studios vary. The heat is there to loosen you rather than to make the class a survival exercise, but it is still enough to need water and a towel.
What should I bring to a hot Pilates class?
Water, a towel for your mat, and clothing you do not mind sweating through. Grip socks if the studio uses equipment in the heated room, and a spare top if you are going anywhere afterwards.
