What Private Pilates actually is

A private session gives you the whole studio hour and the full equipment range. It is the standard starting point for anyone working around an injury, a pregnancy or a specific athletic goal, and it is how most classical studios prefer to introduce a new client before moving them into group classes.

  • One instructor, one client
  • Access to Cadillac, Chair and Tower, not just Reformer
  • Programming built around your history
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Usually discounted when bought as a package

What Private Pilates costs

$75-$150 per class is the national range. Below is what studios on this site actually charge, and when we last checked.

Full price guide

Not enough studios have published a private pilates price for us to show a city range yet. A single studio's price is not a range, so we are not going to print one. $75-$150 per class is the national guide.

Is Private Pilates right for you?

The honest version. Every class style suits some people and not others, and a directory that pretends otherwise wastes your first class fee.

It suits you if

  • Anyone working around a specific injury or a surgery
  • Athletes training for one sport who need targeted work
  • People who want the full equipment range, not just the Reformer
  • Anyone who learns faster without a room watching

Look elsewhere if

  • People on a tight budget, since a private costs three to four times a group class
  • Anyone who wants the energy of a group room

Before you book

What happens in your first class

  1. 1Expect a full assessment before any exercise: history, posture, movement screen
  2. 2Bring any relevant clinical notes or imaging if you are working around an injury
  3. 3Sessions usually run 50 to 55 minutes

What to ask before you pay

  • Ask what the instructor is comprehensively certified in, not just where they trained
  • Check whether the rate drops when you buy a block of sessions
  • Ask whether a duet is possible, which halves the cost with a partner

How Private Pilates compares

Ranges are national guides for each style, not one studio's price.

Private Pilates questions

How much is a private Pilates session?

Private sessions generally run $75 to $150 per hour. Packages of five or ten bring the per session price down, and semi private sessions shared with one other person typically cost about 60 to 70 percent of the private rate each.

Is a private worth it before I start group classes?

Two or three sessions at the beginning is the fastest way to make group classes useful, because the instructor sees exactly what your body does and you learn the cues before you are one of eight. It is also the honest answer for anyone with a specific injury or goal.

Can I bring my partner to a private session?

That becomes a duet or semi private and it is priced separately, usually below two singles and above one. Ask for the duet rate rather than assuming a private can be split, because the listed price is per session and not per person.

Why compare Private Pilates here

  • Prices carry a date

Every price on this page shows when a person last checked it. Stale is stated, never hidden.

  • Verification is four states

Listed, claimed, verified and enhanced. We never blur them into one green tick.

  • Equipment aware

Class size is capped by machine count, which is why the apparatus in the room is listed, not just the class name.

  • Position is never sold

Order is verification, freshness and rating. No studio can buy its way up this list.
