About Pilates With Amanda
Pilates With Amanda is a single teacher rather than a studio timetable. Amanda Baker works out of Complete Body at 301 East 57th Street on the fifth floor, teaching privates and duets on a full apparatus set: reformer, cadillac, wunda chair, barrel and mat.
The credentials are specific enough to be worth reading. She is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher who trained comprehensively through BalancedBody University, and she holds certifications in pre and postnatal Pilates and in the Franklin Method, which teaches alignment through imagery rather than through cueing muscles.
Rates are priced as one to one time, not as class seats. A single private lesson runs 55 minutes at $165. Five come to $775 and ten to $1,500. A studio duet is $250. The way in is an introductory private at $100. She will also teach in your own building if it has a studio: $300 for a private at home, $360 for a duet, and $240 for an introductory session. Health coaching is sold separately at $165 a session.
The diary is narrow, which matters when the booking is with an individual rather than a timetable. Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm, and closed Friday through Sunday. Cancellations need 24 hours or the session is charged in full. Zoom sessions are on offer as well.

View all FAQsIs this the Upper East Side or Midtown East?
Both names get used. The address is 301 East 57th Street at 2nd Ave, which Amanda's own site calls Midtown East, while directory searches file it under Upper East Side. The studio sits on the 5th Floor, so buzz up rather than looking for a street-level door.
Should I start with the $100 intro lesson?
Yes. The introductory private is $100 against $165 for a standard one, so you find out whether her teaching suits you before putting money into a package.
Is the 10 session package better value than the 5?
Marginally. 10 sessions at $1,500 works out at $150 an hour against $155 an hour on the 5 session package, so the bigger outlay buys a small discount and a much larger commitment. Take the 5 first if you are still working out whether Pilates fits your week, since a single private is $165 and nothing is wasted by testing it that way.
Can I get a session before work or after it?
Both, Monday to Thursday, when the day runs 8:30am to 7pm. Friday is shorter at 9am to 5pm, and the weekend is closed, so a Saturday habit is not on offer here.
Does Amanda teach at your home?
Yes, and it costs more than going to her. In-home privates start at $240 for the introductory session and $300 after that, with an in-home duet at $360. If you would rather not travel at all, she teaches over Zoom, and the health coaching runs on FaceTime, Skype or in person.
Is there a Cadillac and a Wunda Chair?
Yes. Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Barrel, Reformer and Mat are all named on her site.
What training does Amanda hold?
She is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher and Health Coach with comprehensive training through BalancedBody University, plus certification in pre and postnatal Pilates and The Franklin Method, which uses imagery to work on alignment. Her site calls her one of NYC's best private Pilates instructors, which is her own claim, so weigh the 5 star rating across 40 reviews instead.
How much notice is needed to cancel?
A cancellation window applies, but its length is not published, so agree it when you book. Booking runs by phone on (917) 650-0808 or by email at PilatesWithAmandaB@gmail.com, and there is no online page carrying the terms.
