This policy explains what information YogaPilatesSearch collects, how we use it, what we pass on to a studio, and the choices you have. The United States has no single federal privacy law, so we work to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA, and to the comparable state laws now in force elsewhere. Rather than work out which one covers you, we give everyone the same rights wherever they live.
1. Who We Are
YogaPilatesSearch is an online directory that connects people with Yoga and Pilates studios across the United States. We also sell listing and marketing services to studio owners. We operate the website at yogapilatessearch.com. Throughout this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to YogaPilatesSearch.
We are a directory, not a studio and not a healthcare provider. We do not teach classes, take bookings, or process class payments. When you book, you book with the studio.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information in two ways.
2.1 Information you give us directly
- Your name, email address, and phone number when you contact a studio through the site or write to us
- The city or neighborhood you are searching in, and the class style you asked about
- Anything you type into the message box, which often includes your experience level or the times you can attend
- If you own a studio and ask about our services for studio owners: your studio name, how many locations you run, and what booking software you use
- If you claim a studio listing: your name, your role at the business, and the evidence you send us to prove you control it
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and browser information (type, version, screen size)
- Pages you visit on our site and how long you stay
- Approximate location based on your IP address, at city level only
- The site that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you arrived on
- A one way hash of your IP address, stored alongside an inquiry so we can catch spam and abuse. We do not keep the address itself, and a hash cannot be turned back into one.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Passing on your inquiry: Sending your message to the studio you contacted so they can reply to you directly.
- Communication: Answering your questions and following up if we need to.
- Spam and abuse prevention: Scoring inquiries so studios are not sent junk, and so the same sender cannot flood the site.
- Site improvement: Understanding which pages and features are useful, and which questions our content fails to answer.
- Legal compliance: Meeting our obligations under applicable federal and state law.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
4. Sharing With Studios
When you send an inquiry to a studio, we pass your contact details and your message to that studio so they can reply. By submitting the form, you are asking us to do that.
A studio receives only what it needs to reply: your name, contact details, the city you named, the class style you asked about, and any notes you included. Studios are independent businesses. Once your details reach them, they handle your information under their own privacy policies, not ours. When you use the contact form to reach us rather than a studio, nothing goes to any studio at all.
We also use a small number of service providers to run the site, including hosting, database, email delivery, and analytics. They process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
5. Health Information You Choose to Share
People often mention an injury, a pregnancy, or a medical condition when they contact a studio, because it decides which class suits them. You never have to. No field on this site asks for it and nothing requires it.
If you do include it:
- It travels to the studio inside your message, the same as everything else you wrote.
- We do not use it to target advertising and we do not pass it to anyone except the studio you contacted.
- Several state laws treat health information as sensitive and restrict what a business may do with it. We use it for nothing beyond delivering your message.
- You can ask us to delete it at any time, without deleting the rest of your inquiry.
We are not a HIPAA covered entity, so what you send through this site is not protected health information under HIPAA. If that matters to you, leave medical detail out of the form and raise it with the studio or your clinician directly.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use a small number of cookies to make the site work and to understand how visitors use it.
- Essential cookies: Required for the site to function, including keeping a studio owner signed in. These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies: Help us see which pages are popular and where visitors arrive from. We use aggregated, anonymized data only.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may affect site functionality. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing for a Global Privacy Control signal to switch off, and sending one changes nothing about how we handle your data.
7. The AI Assistant
The site has an AI assistant that answers questions about studios, class styles and prices. What you type into it, and what it answers, is recorded so we can see which questions the site is failing to answer and fix them.
- Contact details are removed before anything is saved. Email addresses and phone numbers are automatically masked on the way in, so if you paste yours into the chat box, we do not store it.
- We record the page you were on when the conversation started, so a question can be traced back to the page that prompted it. We do not record your name or your IP address alongside the conversation.
- Conversations are deleted after 90 days. This happens automatically, not on request.
- Some conversations are read by a person. A conversation gets flagged for review when the assistant failed to answer, when somebody reports that our data is wrong, or when a question needs a human response. Most are never read individually.
- We do not use your conversations to train an AI model. They are used to improve the site's content and data, and nothing else.
The assistant answers from our own directory data. It is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, a physical therapist or a qualified instructor, and nothing it says about a class should be read as medical or health advice. If you want a conversation deleted before the 90 days are up, contact us at hello@yogapilatessearch.com.
8. Data Storage and Security
Your information is stored on secure servers in the United States, with encryption in transit (HTTPS across the whole site). We keep inquiry data for 24 months, after which it is deleted. Chat conversations go after 90 days. Records we are required to keep for tax or accounting reasons are kept for as long as that requires and no longer.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights
Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold. What categories of information we have about you, where it came from, and who we passed it to.
- Give you a copy of that information in a portable format.
- Correct anything inaccurate or out of date.
- Delete your personal information, unless we are legally required to keep a specific record.
- Stop contacting you. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and it works on the first click.
- Limit how we use sensitive information such as the health detail described in section 5.
We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. You will get the same search results, the same studios, and the same prices.
On selling and sharing: we do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Both terms have specific meanings under California law, and neither describes anything we do. Passing your inquiry to the studio you contacted is not a sale: you asked us to send it, and no money changes hands for it.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@yogapilatessearch.com. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and answer it in full within 45 days. If we need longer, we will tell you why before that deadline passes. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that nobody else can request your data.
If you believe we have mishandled your information and we have not put it right, you can complain to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov, or to the attorney general of your state. California residents can also contact the California Privacy Protection Agency at cppa.ca.gov.
10. Children's Privacy
YogaPilatesSearch is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13, as the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Some state laws additionally require opt-in consent before selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16. We do not sell or share anyone's personal information at any age, so that consent never arises.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on our homepage for at least 14 days before they take effect.
