What Ashtanga Yoga actually is
Ashtanga follows a fixed series in a set order. Led classes move the whole room together, while Mysore style has each student work through their own portion of the series with individual instruction. Studios teaching Mysore attract a committed, early morning regular base.

What Ashtanga Yoga costs
$18-$32 per class is the national range. Below is what studios on this site actually charge, and when we last checked.
Not enough studios have published a ashtanga yoga price for us to show a city range yet. A single studio's price is not a range, so we are not going to print one. $18-$32 per class is the national guide.

Ashtanga Yoga questions
What does Mysore style mean on a timetable?
You work through the sequence at your own pace in a room where everyone is doing the same, and the teacher moves between people rather than leading from the front. A led class is the whole room together on the teacher's count.
Should I start with led or Mysore?
Led, so you learn the order from someone calling it out. Once the sequence is in your head, Mysore becomes the more useful of the two because you get individual attention instead of a shared count.
Is Ashtanga too hard for a beginner?
The Primary Series is demanding and it does not adapt to you, which is the honest problem with it as a first class. Studios that take beginners seriously run a half primary or a short intro course, and that is the one to look for.
