About Humboldt Yoga

Humboldt Yoga sits in Old Town Eureka at 216 J Street, and its main line is Original Hot Yoga, the Bikram sequence, alongside vinyasa, yin and meditation. There is an Express version of the hot class running Wednesdays and Sundays, an hour rather than the full length, which is the one to book when the day will not stretch further.

The door rule is strict and easy to fall foul of. Doors open 15 minutes before class and lock once it begins, so there is no slipping in at the back. Cancellations have to go through online at least 2 hours ahead.

Two things set this room apart from other hot studios. It has put HVAC UV air purifiers and coil sanitizers in, which matters more in a heated room than in an unheated one. And it runs a Karma Yoga programme for students in financial hardship, so the price is not automatically the end of the conversation.

Showers, changing rooms, mat rental and towels are all on site, so a class can be fitted around a working day. The new student special is 5 classes for $50 with a 2 week expiry. Booking runs through Wellness Living or its app.

How Humboldt Yoga Compares

Compare with any studio in Eureka

At twice a week, Humboldt Yoga works out at $80 a month on its cheapest published rate. None of the studios nearby publish a price yet, so put them side by side on what they teach, their equipment and their hours instead, then call for the money.

Costs are the cheapest published way each studio will sell you that many classes, packs and memberships included, and each one carries the date it was checked on the comparison itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

View all FAQs
What does the new student special at Humboldt Yoga get you?

5 classes for $50, with a 2-week expiration, which is tight. Start it in a stretch when your evenings are clear, because whatever you do not use simply expires.

Which styles does Humboldt Yoga teach?

Original Hot Yoga, also called Bikram, is the core of it, with vinyasa, yin and ashtanga around that, plus meditation. Rooms are heated to deepen the practice. Beginner yoga is described as well, so a first visit does not have to be the hot room.

When can I actually get to a class during the week?

Tuesday and Thursday put classes on early, finishing by 10am, while Wednesday and Friday mornings run to 11am. Evenings are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to 7:30pm, with Wednesday closing at 7pm. Weekends are morning only: Saturday to 11am, Sunday stretching to 2pm. There is also an Express Class, 60 min of Original Hot Yoga, every Wednesday and Sunday.

Why is a Reformer on the equipment for a hot yoga studio?

A Reformer shows up in the equipment for this studio, which sits oddly beside a schedule built on Original Hot Yoga, vinyasa, yin and ashtanga. Two readings are possible: the machine is there for private work, or the record has gone out of date. Phone (443) 204-2411 before you drive into Old Town Eureka if a Reformer session is the reason you are going.

How early should I turn up on J Street?

Doors open 15 minutes before class and lock once class begins, so arriving late means not getting in at all.

Can I cancel a class online?

Yes, online and at least 2 hours ahead. Humboldt Yoga books through Wellness Living, mobile app included.

What is there for me after a heated class?

Showers and changing rooms are both on site, with mat rental and towel service, so you can walk in carrying water and nothing else. The studio runs HVAC UV air purifiers and coil sanitizers, and says it aims to be the cleanest in Humboldt.

What if the class packs are out of reach right now?

Ask about Karma Yoga. Humboldt Yoga runs that program for students dealing with financial hardship, so a call is worth more than assuming the $50 pack is the cheapest door in.
