What Prenatal Yoga actually is
Prenatal classes modify postures by trimester, avoid deep twists and prolonged supine positions later in pregnancy, and add hip and pelvic floor work. They also function socially, since a prenatal class is often where expecting parents in a neighbourhood meet each other. Only tag studios whose instructors hold a prenatal certification.

Prenatal Yoga questions
How is it different from a normal Yoga class?
No deep twists, no lying flat on your back once you are past the first trimester, more hip and pelvic floor work, and props used far more heavily. The sequence is built around the changes rather than adapted mid class.
When should I move across from my usual class?
Plenty of people switch in the second trimester, but this is a question for whoever is looking after your pregnancy rather than for a directory. Whatever you decide, tell the instructor before class in any room you walk into.
Does prenatal Yoga continue after the birth?
Studios usually run postnatal as a separate class, sometimes with babies in the room and sometimes not. They are different classes with similar names, so check which one you have booked.
