Frequently Asked Questions
View all FAQsIs Opus Pilates the same studio as Hummingbird Pilates?
Yes. The site still reads Formerly Hummingbird Pilates, so an old Hummingbird link or a friend's recommendation points at the same Beverly Hills address on S Doheny Dr.
What makes this a classical Pilates room?
Classical is the word Opus uses for itself, and the apparatus is the tell. The studio runs on Gratz, which it calls the original Pilates equipment, and the floor covers Reformer, Tower and Mat rather than reformers alone. That shapes what you can book as well: mat classes, semi-privates and private lessons, so the teaching sits closer to a coached session than to a packed group workout.
Can I get a 6am class before work?
Yes. Opus opens at 6am and runs to 9pm on every day of the week.
Is there a published rate for lessons at Opus Pilates?
No rate is published for mat classes, semi-privates or private lessons, so call (310) 561-6566 before you budget. Their Arketa link opens on a gifting page, which is not a price sheet.
Do they run group classes or mostly one to one work?
Both, after a fashion. Opus describes mat classes, semi-privates and private lessons, so a group format exists, but the smaller settings are the point of a classical room.
Is there parking near the Doheny Drive address?
Street parking and a parking lot both come up for this Beverly Hills block, so you are not hunting blind. Opus asks you to arrive early anyway, so leave a margin.
What do they use for reservations?
Arketa. The booking link runs through app.arketa.co/opuspilates, so you set up an account there rather than on opuspilates.com, and the cancellation window in their policy applies once you hold a place.
How much weight should I put on the 5 star average?
Some, not a lot. Opus Pilates carries a 5 rating from 22 reviews on Google, a small enough sample that a couple of sour visits would drag it down.
