Frequently Asked Questions

View all FAQs
How early does Calma Pilates open?

Mornings for most of the week, wrapping up at 11am. Monday and Wednesday add an evening block that ends at 6:30pm, and Sunday is closed.

How many reformers are in the room?

Five. Calma runs as a semi private studio, so a small class is the design rather than a quiet day.

Where is the nearest parking?

The City lot behind the Arlington Theatre is the safe bet, with downtown garages nearby. Street parking on State Street exists, but watch the posted time limits.

What is the late cancel fee?

$20, plus the lost class credit, if you cancel inside eight hours. Contact Calma directly and a late cancel credit may be reissued.

What should I wear?

Fitted activewear, leggings or bike shorts with a supportive top, and grippy socks, which are required rather than suggested. Bring water and a small towel if you sweat.

What is the difference between the classes?

Calma Signature uses reformer and tower for strength and endurance. Essentials sticks to classical reformer repertoire and sequencing. Strength Reformer runs heavier resistance at a controlled tempo, and Dynamic Tower uses a mat converter.

Is there really a coffee bar?

Yes, an in studio coffee bar doing handcrafted espresso after class. The studio sits on the north side of the Arlington Theatre, across from Carlito's.

Is Calma a good place to train as an instructor?

It is an Official STOTT PILATES Academy Partner and runs instructor training courses, which is a real credential rather than an in house certificate. Worth knowing the studio itself is small, five reformers and a semi private format, so you would be learning in a working room rather than a lecture hall. Minimum age for classes is 18, or parental consent on a waiver.
