Frequently Asked Questions

View all FAQs
What is the difference between Core Studies and Major Move?

Core Studies is the classical side: slow, intentional work on deep core strength, control and alignment. Major Move is faster and athletic, with jumpboard sequences for low-impact cardio.

Which class should a complete beginner start with?

Core Studies. It covers the key Pilates principles, safe reformer setup and the movement patterns that show up in every class, and no experience is needed. Both formats are all-levels anyway, with modifications, hands-on guidance and progression options, so you will not be stranded in Major Move either.

Is the new client offer better than paying per class?

Yes. A single session is $39 and the new client offer is 2 classes for $49, a saving of almost $20. Take that first.

Should I buy the 5 pack or the 10 pack?

It depends on how often you can realistically get to Palisade Ave. The 5-pack expires 1 month from purchase and the 10-pack expires 2 months from purchase, so neither one waits around for you. Buy the 10-pack only if your week already has room for regular classes, because an unused credit at $39 a class is an expensive thing to let lapse.

What do the Varsity Pilates memberships include?

Three tiers. Intramural is 4 classes/4 weeks, JV is 8 classes/4 weeks and the one the studio calls most popular, and Varsity is unlimited classes/4 weeks.

How many reformers are on the floor?

The studio has 11 reformers, which keeps class sizes small on Palisade Ave.

Do I have to buy grip socks at Varsity Pilates?

You need grip socks for safety and hygiene, and the studio sells them if you forget. Bring water and form-fitting athletic clothing, because the reformer, jumpboard and props are provided.

Can I get an evening class on Saturday?

No. Saturday and Sunday both run 8am to 1pm, so the weekend is a morning-only proposition. Evenings are weekdays only, when the studio stays open from 6am until 8pm.
