Frequently Asked Questions

View all FAQs
Is Kinetic Fitness really a Pilates studio?

Not in the usual sense. Kinetic Fitness calls itself Santa Barbara's Westside Gym, and its group classes center on strength training, weightlifting and functional training. A reformer shows up among the equipment, but none of the published class types is Pilates, so check with the gym before paying for reformer work.

What happens in a DRIP class?

DRIP at Kinetic Fitness is athletic conditioning that blends weights, cardio, bodyweight movements and team-based training. Strength, the other named class, is full-body strength and hypertrophy work.

How much does one group class cost at Kinetic Fitness?

$35, and that buys a normal group class with no gym access before or after it. Coming daily for a stretch? The Group Class Week Pass is $150.

Should I pick the class membership or Open Gym?

That depends on whether you want classes. The Group Class Monthly Membership is $250 a month plus a $100 signup fee, covering unlimited classes capped at one per day, with gym access during regular open hours. Open Gym billed monthly is also $250, with gym access for 19 hours per day and a one-time free trial week of classes. For lifting alone, the Open Gym Annual Membership at $765 costs far less.

What is the cheapest way to try the Westside gym?

A $25 Day Pass, which covers full gym access for that day only.

How early can I train at Kinetic Fitness?

Very early. Doors open at 3:30am on every day of the week and shut at 10:30pm, and members get in through Bluetooth entry on the GymMaster app.

Why bring a bottle to Kinetic Fitness?

The gym runs Kangen Life water filters and reverse osmosis water tanks, and both need your own sports bottle to use.

San Andres St or San Andres Rd, and where does parking go?

Both spellings circulate for 1329 San Andres in Santa Barbara, and the gym was formerly Superior Fitness, so you may still see that name. Day and Week Pass holders ($50 for 7 days) use a dedicated parking lot, while Open Gym members park first-come, first-served.
