About TRAPHAUS

TRAPHAUS is a Black-owned, Black-led pilates studio in the Lower East Side, the first in NYC to combine lifting and reformer Pilates. Its signature 50-minute switch-style workouts fuse low-impact Xformer techniques with hypertrophy training, powered by trap and house music mixes by DJs. The 3rd floor offers mat-based training with movement and flow. Classes include TRAP TONE for muscular endurance, TRAP FLOW yoga with dynamic sequences and breathwork, and TRAPPIN ON THE MAT, which turns up classic Pilates foundations. Equipment includes reformers and mats.

Frequently Asked Questions

View all FAQs
What is the difference between the Reformer Room and the Group Room?

Two spaces in the same Ludlow Street building, both running to trap and house played by DJs. The Reformer Room on the 2nd floor holds Up in the Trap, Trappin' on the Low and Full Haus; the Group Room on the 3rd floor holds TRAP TONE, TRAP FLOW and TRAPPIN ON THE MAT. TRAPHAUS describes itself as Black-owned and Black-led.

Are grip socks required in the Reformer Room?

Yes, mandatory in the Reformer Room, and TRAPHAUS sells them in studio for $16. Group Room classes run in socks or barefoot, with a mat to rent at $5.

How early does a first timer need to arrive at 121 Ludlow Street?

15 minutes before class. That covers the 10-15 minute walkthrough first-time visitors are required to do, so the posted start is not when you arrive.

What does a late cancellation cost at TRAPHAUS?

$25 if you cancel inside 10 hours, or $20 for members with the first waived. No-show after that and it is $35.

Is there a first visit deal?

Yes. New clients get a Buy One Get One $35 deal, so line up a friend first.

What is TRAPWell?

A recovery add-on in the studio: Red Light Therapy, Pneumatic Compression Recovery and Infrared Sauna, offered beside classes rather than as care of any kind.

How long am I tied in if I take a monthly package?

Longer than most people expect. Monthly packages at TRAPHAUS carry a minimum three-month commitment and then a 30-day cancellation notice on top, so the honest way to think about it is a full term rather than a month you can walk away from, and it only makes sense if the reformer and weightlifting format is already something you do weekly.

Which day gives the shortest window at TRAPHAUS?

Sunday. Doors are 9:30am to 3pm then, against 7am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 8pm on Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturday.

Ready to book at TRAPHAUS?
