View all FAQsWhat is the Guillotine?
A vertical frame with springs, one of the rarer pieces of classical apparatus and not something most New York studios own. It sits alongside the reformer, tower, spine corrector, Ped-a-Pull and Wunda chair, all authentic Gratz.
What does a first session cost?
$85 for a first time private, or $299 for a package of three one to one sessions. That second figure is worth thinking about before you buy a single: three sessions is roughly what it takes to be useful on classical apparatus, and buying them together costs less than buying them one at a time.
What happens if I am five minutes late?
You are not admitted, to a group class or a private. Twelve hours notice is also required to cancel or the credit is forfeited.
Why does the studio want me to switch instructors?
It says so directly: working with several trainers gives varied cueing, fresh insight and deeper corrections. Most studios encourage you to stick with one, so this is a deliberate difference in approach.
When am I charged?
In full at the time of booking, except standing sessions, which are charged the evening before if left unpaid. A 50% deposit secures a private event.
What is the location?
1226 Lexington Avenue, second floor, reachable from the 86th Street stations on the 4, 5, 6 and Q.
Should I change at the studio?
Come dressed. The dressing rooms may be limited, and a water bottle is worth bringing since there is a cooler for refills.
When can I train?
7am starts on weekdays, closing at 8pm Tuesday, 7pm Monday and Thursday, 6pm Wednesday and 5pm Friday. Saturday runs 8am to 2pm and Sunday 9am to 3pm.
