This studio is spacious and clean. I really enjoyed my classes with Negging (Eva) Wang (my first Pilates class was taught by her as well) and she is very attentive, professional and making sure you are using the right pose and techniques. I learned a lot of breathing techniques as well from Eva and I am happy with the improvement so far!

I am an athlete and pilates was suggested by my PT - for both my chronic labrum tear and to prepare for pregnancy in the upcoming months. I fell in love with Chelsea immediately with the jump start class and V1. I ended up upgrading my groupon to unlimited after one V1 with Chelsea. I have been going 4-6 times a week for a couple of months. All the instructors have strengths for all learning types. This is how it should be though! I like learning different skills, tips and tricks from different coaches so I appreciate the variety of instructors. Try ALL of the instructors to see which one works best for your learning type. Personally, I prioritize classes with Eddie and Chelsea as I feel they are the best fit for me. They are very flexible with all body types. All the instructors do try to modify workouts like if you have a bad back, new to exercise or a labrum tear like me. It's very inclusive for body shapes, skills and genders. As a gym rat, the cleanliness is also a concern. Everyone is held to the same high standard of cleaning. I never see anyone taking short cuts cleaning their equipment. It is an extremely clean studio. Although I am only two months in, I clearly can see a sense of community. I am making friends with the other regulars. I see friendships blooming. I see support from other members to help new members learn the ropes. It is a very wonderful community. I also think their cancellation policy is extremely fair (sept 2025). You get a 12 hr notice to cancel without penalty. If you go away within that 12 hrs, it's $15 and you retain your class. If you no call no show, then it's a $25 fee and a used class from your account. To cancel membership, they need a 2 week notice. I ended up having my first cancellation fee waived as well. I also don't think it's THAT competitive to get spots. It's normally easy to book same day sessions. 10/10 give Pilates V in San Mateo a try!
I'm so pleased about the new Pilates V studio in San Mateo! The facility is spotless, and the equipment state of the art! All the teachers are well trained and care about your enjoyment of their classes, success and safety. If you let them know you have a past injury or a weakness, they will give you alternative positions...but not to worry, you have the chance to tell them, they always ask. All the teachers are friendly and get you to think about the "mind/body connection." I love their intro pricing, and I'm making the most of the unlimited monthly package. I've been building up my strength after not getting to the gym for awhile, and even though I've only taken the beginner classes, I find that we are using all of the equipment and it's challenging. The Pilates V style is a great workout, and with so many variations, you won't get bored. I love the Barre class, too!
