Frequently Asked Questions

View all FAQs
What is a microformer?

A smaller machine than a full reformer, used for the Lagree classes here. Lava Fitness is Ocean County's first and only licensed Lagree studio, so the microformer work is not available elsewhere nearby.

What is LAVA-lates?

The mat Pilates class, 45 minutes, using classical precision with light weights, resistance bands, Pilates rings and small stability balls. Grip socks are recommended for it and required for everything else on the timetable, which tells you something about how much of the week is spent on a microformer here. If you came for mat work alone, LAVA-lates is the one class that gives it to you.

How long is every class?

Forty five minutes, across all five formats, which makes the timetable easy to plan around.

What are the other formats?

Lava Sculpt mixes strength, Pilates and yoga inspired movement with light weights, bands and gliders. Barre Burn blends barre, Pilates and cardio intervals. Full Body Tone adds Tabata style intervals to Pilates based strength work.

How much is a single class?

$38 for a drop in, expiring a month after purchase. There is an intro offer for new clients covering a few classes.

How short are the weekends?

Four hours each day, closing at 11am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday alike. Monday through Thursday run to 5pm, so there is no evening class at any point in the week.

Is parking difficult?

No, there are two lots plus street parking on Route 35 in Lavallette, which matters on a summer weekend at the shore.

When should I turn up?

Ten minutes on a first visit, to meet the instructor and learn how the microformer works before it starts moving.
