View all FAQsIs JoyMoves in Rollingwood or in Austin?
Both, really. Records place JoyMoves in Rollingwood, while the address the studio itself publishes reads 2499 S. Capital of Texas Hwy, A202, Austin, TX 78746. Locals name the area Westlake Hills.
What does classical Pilates mean at JoyMoves?
It means the exercises Joseph Pilates created, run in the order he intended, rather than a reshuffled contemporary mix. Expect a repeatable sequence and apparatus work in the same tradition, taught the way Shoshana was certified to teach it.
Which apparatus is on the floor?
Reformer, Tower, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Barrel and Mat, so springs and floor work stay on the menu.
Who will be teaching my session?
Shoshana Goldstein, comprehensively certified and co-owner, teaches the sessions. Austin Fit Magazine readers voted her best instructor and voted JoyMoves best Pilates studio in Austin, which is a reader poll rather than an inspection.
What do the new client blocks cost?
3 private sessions run $215, down from $285, and 3 semi-private sessions run $170 rather than $183. Both are for new clients only.
Is the 5-pack worth it over paying session by session?
Only if you will use it inside the year. The 5-pack of privates costs $430 and saves $9 per session, and the semi-private 5-pack costs $285 and saves $6 per session, both valid for one year. That is a real but modest discount, so the honest test is your calendar rather than the maths: if you train weekly it pays, and if you train when work allows, buy the smaller new client block first.
Why is JoyMoves closed all weekend?
Saturday and Sunday are both shut. Weekdays split into morning and afternoon blocks that are not identical: Monday and Friday open at 9:30am, Wednesday carries through to 2:30pm, and Tuesday and Thursday are afternoon only, finishing at 5pm. Phone (512) 328-4440 before driving over.
How much should I read into the 4.9 rating?
Not much on its own. It comes off 15 reviews, a thin sample for a studio open since June 2006, and one sour write-up would move it. Read the JoyMoves reviews individually and judge the first session yourself.
