View all FAQsWhat is in the $440 Introductory Package?
Five private sessions plus either three Tower Mat classes or one private Gyrotonic session, for new clients only. Set that against $110 for a single private and the package is clearly the cheaper way in, before you even count the add-on.
Why does Equilibrium point new clients to private sessions first?
So you learn the classical method one to one on Gratz apparatus, built to Joseph Pilates' original specifications, before joining a group. A single private is $110, a pack of four is $395 and eight cost $770.
What does a semi-private mean at this studio?
Two clients sharing one instructor and the apparatus. $65 single, $240 for four, $450 for eight.
How does Tower Mat differ from the plain Mat class?
Tower Mat adds a wall unit with springs to the floor work, so you get resistance alongside the traditional mat sequence, and each instructor takes no more than four participants. It costs $48 a class, $175 for four or $330 for eight. The Mat class is body weight and gravity only, $30 single, $98 for four, $190 for eight, and it also runs over Zoom if you would rather not travel to Park Street. Mats are provided, and socks are required in every session.
What is Gyrotonic, and is it the same thing as Pilates?
No. Gyrotonic uses a weight and pulley system where Pilates uses springs, and the range of motion, repetitions and teaching style all differ. Equilibrium offers it in private sessions, and one Gyrotonic private can replace the Tower Mat classes inside the introductory package.
Can I fit a session in after work?
Not on a weekday. The Montclair studio shuts at 2pm on every day it opens, after a 7am start Monday to Friday and an 8am start on Saturday, and there is nothing on Sunday. Everything is by appointment, so reserve a morning slot rather than turning up.
Where is the nearest parking to 42 Park St?
The Fullerton Deck at 25 Park Street, beside the YMCA, is on the same street. The Maple Plaza lot on Portland Place is one block away, and Montague Place and Midland Ave have free two-hour street parking, which covers a private session with time to spare.
Is this a Pilates studio or a physical therapy practice?
Both, at the same Park Street address in downtown Montclair. The Pilates side is classical, and the studio also runs Gyrotonic, nutrition programs and a teacher training course. Physical therapy is offered alongside, not as what the classes are. Google has it at 5 stars from 45 reviews.
