View all FAQsHow do I find the door in the Starrett-Lehigh Building?
The studio is at 601 W 26th Street, sitting between Olly Olly Market and Hav and Mar, the Marcus Samuelsson restaurant. Those two are easier to spot from the street than the studio front.
Are there hidden costs on top of the monthly fee?
There can be in New York. Studios here may charge a one time enrollment fee around $149 and ask for a three month minimum commitment. Reported city rates are about $104 a month for four classes and $159 to $229 for eight, with drop ins between $25 and $49.
Why does everyone say to avoid zippers?
Because you spend much of the class lying on your back on the reformer carriage. Zippers dig in and can mark the upholstery. Fitted leggings are the usual answer, and they also let the instructor see what your hips are doing.
Can I buy kit at the studio?
Yes, this location runs a sportswear shop alongside the usual grip socks, and it has air conditioning, changing rooms and lockers.
Which formats run at West Chelsea?
Reformer Flow, Suspend, Circuit, Cardio Sculpt and the Intro Class. Circuit is not on every studio's timetable, so it is worth a look if you like moving between stations.
Is the free class worth booking before I commit?
Yes, especially here, because the enrollment fee and minimum term mean the real commitment is larger than one month. The free session is 30 minutes and books online.
What is the studio like for a first timer?
It is a small sample so far, 4.8 across 72 reviews, in a chain that trains instructors for more than 500 hours before they teach. Grip socks are required and sold if you forget.
